Welcome to my Studio Notes: Edition 1!
Hi!
Here I am in your inbox with the first edition of my newsletter! I’m familiar with the concept of email overload (like every time I order from an online retailer - poof! there it is!) So I hope this newsletter becomes a helpful resource to you, as well as a way to stay in touch on a somewhat regular basis.
I love working with clients who have annual projects, but sometimes that’s the only time I get to talk to them. I really think communication is the key 🗝️ to successful projects, businesses and collaborations, and I don’t want this to be just me talking at you. I love hearing from you! Reach out, drop me a quick note about what you’re working on and what is currently bringing you joy (or not so much), and we can share, commiserate, and discuss! OK? 🙂

What’s up in the Studio 👩💻
New Year, new posts, now what?
As we step into a new year, crafting compelling social media posts, messaging for your communications, or marketing efforts requires a fresh perspective. Even if you’re not on social media, you can use this printable Freebie below to spark conversations ✨and interactions with your team, membership, or in your marketing communications.
First and foremost, authenticity remains key. In a digital landscape saturated with content, genuine and relatable messaging stands out. Share behind-the-scenes glimpses, highlight your team's personalities, or showcase the human side of your business. Authenticity fosters a deeper connection with your audience, building trust and loyalty.
Another focal point for the upcoming year is interactive content. Beyond static posts, consider incorporating polls, quizzes, or live sessions to engage your audience actively. Use stories and reels on Instagram, quizzes on your website, or polls in your e-blast that prompt interaction and give you valuable (or just fun!) feedback from your target audience. In 2024, make it a goal to post content and spark real interactions 🔥 that resonate with your community.
I’ve created a pdf that you can download (link below) that shares
12 fun things you can try with your social media or messaging this year to stay relevant and engaged, while successfully promoting your organization. Try one a month, and let me know how it goes! And you can find more helpful tips about social media marketing strategy here. If you’re still not inspired to dyi your marketing or social media, you can always reach out to discuss ways I can help 😊.
What’s New in the Studio
Always learning… I’ve been busy taking a course on creating calm yet effective lead magnets for websites. I’ve used lead magnets before in my business, to build my mailing list, or to promote a new offering in my Etsy shop. But I really wanted to get up to speed with using the Squarespace platform (which I already use for building websites) to make the whole process easier, and more effective at targeting the people who want my offers and not just a free giveaway (though I’m not particularly opposed to that, really).
But a peeve of mine, after clicking on an interesting offer (that’s the magnet part–it sucks you in!) is having to go through sections upon sections of the site to get to what you want. I understand the intent - to upsell you on additional products or reiterate the value of their product and service in case you haven’t made up your mind after reading about it in the already-lengthy scroll. But I’m a bigger fan of saving someone’s time by getting to the point. You want it, here’s why you’ve made a good choice, and here it is! So I’m gaining not only technical knowledge about how to set this up on a website, but also how to keep it feeling human and authentic.
Happy clients, happy Kris! The Madison Housing Authority, a recent branding client, sent me a picture of their team sporting their new quarter-zip sweatshirts with their new logo. The picture was also featured in the local paper with a story about their new branding, as well as a one-sheet that I designed to help them better communicate their mission and services. That brought me joy to see that they are so happily and fully embracing their new tools!
